I have been working as an expert witness in software intellectual property matters for almost 20 years, full time for over 12 years. I specialize in source code analysis in patent, copyright, trade secret and DMCA cases. I have also been involved in software business practice matters.

My education started with a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from Brandeis University as well as subsequent graduate work at Stanford University in EE, Computer Science and Statistics. This has been supplemented by continuing education classes at UC Santa Cruz and UC Berkeley extensions.

My career as a software developer and architect for over 30 years involved a wide variety of applications areas including real-time aircraft simulation, numerical ocean wave models, digital cartography and GIS, tools for the layout and verification of semicustom and full custom VLSI, bioinformatics (genomics and proteomics), banking system for foreign exchange traders at large central banks, and many others. I am the coinventor of over 100 patent applications.

I am a clear and fluent communicator, both in my writing and interpersonally, able to explain technical concepts and opinions to my peers, to intelligent laymen and to the people one finds on juries.
